Our little man was finally born on October 25, 2008 at 7:41 p.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long! I'll have to come back and write a longer post at another time, but I wanted to at least share a few pix with you...

Only Time Will Tell...

So, originally I had an appt scheduled for 9:10 this morning, but the office called yesterday and advised me that my dr. would be out of the office and asked if I would like to reschedule for Friday...I was like, um....no! So then they asked if I wanted to see the other dr., the alternate dr. at a different office this afternoon at 1:10, so I took it!

Don't get too excited tho, no change. They did two more stress tests, the first one got turned off too early accidentally by a nurse who misunderstood, so then doc examined me and did a quick ultrasound and then they hooked me up and did a second test. Everything still looks good, Lucas is in position and ready to go, but was still not dialated at all!

So, we talked about inducing vs. c-section and I stressed that I really want to try inducing first and he was like, ok, I understand....def what I needed to hear!

Unfortunately, my main doc calls the shots and he won't be available til tomorrow morning, so I have to call the office first thing in the morning to schedule the induction. I know he's going to push for Saturday, but I'm going to push right back and try for tomorrow! If this is going to possibly take a few days, then let's get the show on the road!

However...I ran a few errands after my appt and then came home cuz I was feeling hungry/nauseous/dizzy. By the time I got home I was just nauseous and started having contractions 5-8 min apart, but after 30 min they stopped. Then at 6:30 I started feeling nauseous again and started having contractions again at 6:37. After 4 of them I had to go to the bathroom and low and behold, there was a lil blood! Yay!!! Never thought I would be so excited to experience pain and see blood in the toilet (well, on the tp)!!! Sorry if this is TMI, but those of you who know me, know I don't usually hold back. :)

Well, I'll keep you all posted! Either way, Lucas will be here by the end of the weekend! Finally!

Lucas is Coming Sometime this Week...

Had NST and things went well. Also having irregular contractions so doc said it's possible I could go into labor on my own in the next day or so. Still not dialated tho, so if I am still waiting around as of Thursday I have to decide whether or not I want a c-section. Which, I don't, but doc also said that he prob is a 9lber and that it will be a tight squeeze if he does make it out, but may have to end up having section anyways. I really hope he comes on his own cuz I really don't want to make that decision...I dread not being able to hold my baby when he is born, so much, that I could cry right now thinking about it. Anyways, so we just have to continue to play the waiting game.
Pray for us!

Ok, so maybe Lucas is holding out on us cuz he was waiting for mommy to finish her last project. Here it is...a little wooden trinket block I found on clearance at Michaels...cute, isn't it? Of course I had to paint it to match his room. It only took two days and it doesn't look perfect, but that's as much patience as I have right now. Love you baby! Now just come out!

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

So apparently Lucas is very snuggly in my tummy or he is just too afraid to come out and face this crazy world (or maybe just his mama). Doc says I'm STILL not dialated!!! Not even 1 cm!!! Therefore, he advises against inducing because at this rate it could take days. So the plan is for me to go in on Monday morning and have a Non Stress Test and see how baby is doing.

If all looks well, then I have two choices. If I absolutely can't take it any longer, he will admit me Wednesday and induce me then, or, I can wait til Sat (one week past due date) and be induced then. He will not let me go any further than one week past, so that's at least something to look fwd to. Now, I mentioned an ultrasound before, but we are foregoing that because that would only be to confirm my decision to have a c-section, which I don't want unless ABSOLUTELY neccesary.

If, God forbid, there is a problem Monday, he will send me to hospital and admit me then, but so far baby's heartbeat is good, he's still moving around and I'm not leaking any fluid, so all should be fine.

So I'm done with all the wives tales for now. The only one I haven't tried is the castor oil and I'm too afraid to end up with diarrhea to try that one. This baby will have to come out on his own or he will be forced out by Dr. I keep telling him he doesn't want that cuz then he will be entering the world all pissed off and crabby and that's no way to start your life, but obviously he's not worried about it. He'd rather drive me crazy for a little while longer!

I've come to the conclusion that basically I'm just going to give birth to a ginormous baby and half his clothes will go to Good Will cuz none of them will fit and mommy, trying to be prepared took all the tags off and washed them. Yay! He has plenty of 0-3 months clothes, but all the cute NB stuff will most likely be too small.

Oh well, off to study...sorry this is taking so long...BELIEVE ME, NOBODY WANTS HIM OUT MORE THAN ME!!! :)

Still here....no baby Lucas yet. I know he's not due til Saturday, but I have to say, this week has been the most frustrating of them all!
I appreciate the concern and excitement you all have and apologize for not answering phone calls, text messages and/or emails, it's just really hard for me right now and to be honest, I'm tired of telling everyone the same thing, no, no baby yet. So please bare with me, I love you all and will definitely let you know one way or another when he finally does decide to come out, I promise...the whole freaking world will know!!! Lol!!

To Continue or not to Continue...

Hi everyone...just wanted to let you know that I'm not sure how much longer I will be doing this blog. As you already know, I'm not very good at updating it. The reason is mainly because it's just too frustrating! I'm ususally pretty good with this kind of stuff, but as you can tell by my last batch of belly pix, I'm having trouble posting pix. I may just resort to myspace or facebook, but not sure yet.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I think I lost my plug...so it could be any day now! And unfortunately sometimes it can be weeks after that happens, but I'm thinking positive! My tummy has also been one giant BH contraction (hard as a rock) since I woke up yesterday at 3:15am, so hoping that means somethihng too. I did wake up last night, twice with contractions, but after a couple they seemed to go away....but again, it's a step closer. We're really hoping he will come out by this weekend! And prepare yourself for when you hear the weight! I know I was only 6lbs 11 oz but Todd was 8lbs 5 1/2 oz and I'm thinking this boy weighs closer to what his daddy did...I'm huge, still gaining weight and hungry most of the time again now...yikes!

Well most of you will here from us (or mom & dad) via phone or text so keep your phones near! Hope to talk to you soon! Lol!

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and doc said all is well. Lucas is prob about 4.5-5 lbs now, which is right on target. However, the doc is a little worried he may get too big for me. So, they will keep an eye on things and do an ultrasound in a few weeks and take measurements to see how big he is. If he's on his way to 8 pounds or more they may induce me a few weeks early! Yikes! Of course they want to keep him in there as long as possible so that everything is functioning properly, but they are usually ok anytime after 37 weeks.

All this because I asked a question! Exciting, but yet scary. He could be here sooner than we thought! Not sure if it's all really real yet....but it will be soon enough!

Our 3D/4D Experience

OMG!!! Saturday was the best day yet! Todd and I went for the 3D/4D ultrasound. We went back and forth on whether or not we should do it, but in the end we are sure glad that we did! It was amazing! I think we both cried!

Todd was pretty against it in the first place, saying that the 3D pix are freaky and they look like aliens, but after showing him other 3D pix and talking about it alot he finally agreed to do it. Now he is thanking me for convincing him because he was so moved by the whole experience. I think Lucas is going to be a little ham (and not because of the chubby cheeks :)) because he kept sticking his tongue out and trying to eat his toes! It was so cute! Poor thing kept kicking himself in the eye cuz I guess his coordination skills take after his mama. Lol!

I'm now at 30 weeks and 2 days and I'm sure these last few weeks are gonna go by as slow as molasses, so I thought getting this ultrasound would "hold us over" and give us something to look forward to....but I think now we are more excited than ever to meet him (I'm also relieved that I was able to get a clearer picture of him and make sure everything was accounted for, I kept having nightmares) :) !!!

We have 101 pictures of him on a cd and a DVD of the entire session. I wonder if I'll go home tonight and catch Todd watching the video again!?!?! Lol!

Lucas's Nursery

Here's a peek at what Lucas's room looks like. Todd and I finally hung up the rest of the wall hangings, pictures and plaques this weekend. After a few squabbles and a few misdrilled holes, here is the final product (all that's missing now is baby Lucas)...

So I had another doctor's appointment yesterday and it was much more exciting than last months appt! I took my glucose test and just found out I passed...woohoo!! Very excited about that!

I also had a quick u/s and got to see our little man. He's so much bigger than last time! I could actually see his nose, eyes and mouth! He has the cutest profile! I bet he looks just like me! LOL!!! I also found out that he is already in position, head down that is...so hopefully he stays that way!

Furniture Update...

So Obviously I haven't gotten around to those belly pix...I'm terrible! I know! But I wanted to give you all a brief update on what's new.

This past Tuesday the furniture was finally delivered and go figure...they delivered one of the wrong pieces! I was so upset! However, they are coming tomorrow to switch it out, which means we'll just have to wait for them to come before we can start our day (heading downtown to the Museum of Science & Industry and Sears Tower), but i wasn't going to wait another week!

I really like the one piece and am very excited to see how the room is going to look with the correct pieces in it! Right now the wrong piece is too large, so it's sitting in the middle of the room, so it's hard to imagine how the room will really look.

Also...my Lucas letters came yesterday! They are so cute! I will def take pix tomorrow or Sunday and post them so that you can all see. I will now also be able to hang up the rest of the shelves, pictures and plaques I have for his room after tomorrow since we will be able to arrange the furniture how we want it...I'm so excited!!!

This all becoming more real every day! Especially since I sleep less and less each night it seems. My left side is just constantly sore and it's really hard to stay in one position all night! I've had a limp the past 2 days because of my hip/tailbone pain too...oh the joys of pregnancy!

Other than that...all is well, I go for my glucose test Thursday, the 24th, so wish me luck!

Oh! One last thing...nd on our trip to the zoo last Sunday, we couldn't help but to buy Lucas not one, but two little beanie babies...it was beanie baby day and they were all over the place! I chose a brown monkey, Swinger (whose birthday is also in October) and a blue elephant, Peanut, so that they will match his room. I am so against the whole stuffed animal thing because I think they are just dust collectors...but I can't seem to help myself lately! They're just so darn cute!

Lucas's Room

Hi again! So I guess I got confused with my other blog (just for preggos) and thought I posted pix of Lucas's room so far...I guess not. Here is a sneak peek...

We are supposed to be getting a call anyday now from the delivery company who will deliver the dressers...we can't wait! I also ordered Lucas letters for his name that will go on the wall and match the bedding...very excited about those!

Well that's all for now...I did upload some belly pix onto the computer at home last night, just didn't have time to post them, so look for those over the next couple of days (maybe Sat or Sunday when I will have some free time).

Just a brief update...

So I just realized it's been quite a while since I last posted...sorry bout that guys! Not too much is going on. I had a cold about a week or so ago and did not feel like doing anything! But I made it thru...all better now!

This past Friday I drove out to Beecher to visit my gf Jody and she threw me a mini shower. Well, not really, but she gave me alot of stuff! Her neighborhood was having garage sale days and she found quite a few items in new or almost new condition (including a portable swing, a playmat and a few other crib/cradle toys and floor toys)! In addition, she gave me part of my shower gift already! I told her she wasn't allowed to give it to me yet, but there was no use arguing with her...she won. She gave us (Lucas and I) alot of great stuff! A special thermometer and special nail clippers, a few books for mommy to read, including Healthy Baby Happy Sleep Habits (one I will be sure to read!), some cute little clothes and socks, receiving blankets (that match the onesies Grandma Bernard gave him a few weeks ago) and much more! She's crazy! I'm now beginning to realize how small our townhome really is...where am I going to put all this baby stuff!?!? Lol!

On my way home from Jody's I stopped off at my parent's house since the whole family was hanging out there except for me, including my hubby. My sis gave me her Medela Breast Pump to borrow (minus the accessories which will be on the registry) and a few cute little outfits, including two little Cubby outfits (I bought them for Emma when she was a baby but I don't think she would even dare to put those on Kendall now considering they are living with my parent's and my brother, HUGE Sox fans) and a sweet little white sweater-like one piece (picture overalls) with green and yellow stars and a matching hat. Score again! We sure are lucky to have such great friends and family!

Well besides the fact that Lucas is getting stronger and my glucose test is July 24th, nothing else is really new with us. I will have to post belly pix since I haven't in 7 weeks! Yikes! I'm terrible! I used to post pics at work and now I'm not able to and the last thing I want to do when I finally get home (around 6:45), make dinner and eat (now it's 8:00) is sit in front of the computer again, so sorry for the lack of posts. Oh! and don't forget the Avon stuff and my school...wow I'm busy! Lol! Anyways, they will get here eventually, just keep checking back.

Lil Slugger

So I have given our little boy a nickname...Lil Slugger. I have chosen this name because it feels like he's hitting baseballs against his mommy's tummy! And I mean homeruns! Ha! I swear he is already playing sports in there! Which, coming from my family of crazy sports lovers or Todd's family who is almost as crazy about them, wouldn't be so far fetched!

Last night was the first time he kept his mommy from falling asleep...and I was soooo tired...figures. I had an Avon meeting and then came home to put my orders together and stayed up way past my bedtime. I'm not sure what he was doing, but it was much more than the usual little kicks and punches tho.

So here are a few pictures from baby Lucas' closet....these are pictures of all the presents that baby Lucas has already received. So many people just can't wait to meet you and spoil you!

These outfits are from mommy and daddy's first shopping spree after we found out that you were a boy. Since we found out in May and you are due in October, we had to shop the clearance racks...but I think we did pretty good. You already have your first lil preppy Christmas outfit and a Santa suit for your Christmas pictures. We are also anticipating that you will Love HUGS since you will be getting so many of them! Lol! So you will wear the snugly sleeper that says so. You have a onesie that claims you are on "Daddy's Team", but we all know you will be a mama's boy (hehehe). And if you're going to be anything like you are in mommy's tummy, you will wear the onesie mommy found that says "Mommy's Little Monster" (but you'll be the cutest monster ever! not a scary one). And just because mommy loves overalls so much, you got two pairs, one that I picked out and one your daddy picked out.

These adorable onesies are from your sports loving Grandma B. (my mom). I told you they love sports! I wasn't kidding! Lol! The pix on these cover all the major sports except basketball, which your daddy noticed, so I'm sure he will find you something with basketball on it. See, they all just can't wait til you can hit, throw or bounce a ball!

These sweet little presents are from mommy's friend Wendy. Mommy & daddy met her and her husband on our honeymoon. They don't live that far from us and are having a lil boy too! He'll be a lil older than you since he's due to arrive in July, but you two can still be buddies. The big snugly blanket says Thank Heaven for Little Boys around the edges...and we agree!

And last but not least, these adorable outfits are from your Aunt Jody. Your Aunt Jody is mommy's best friend who has been so great about this whole experience. She calls mommy all the time to say hi and see how you're doing and I think she is just as excited to meet you as we are (although she thought you were going to be a girl for a long time). These were your very first presents and mommy was so excited (and daddy too)! You are going to be the cutest, warmest baby in Plainfield this winter!

As you can see you are already very loved (and well dressed). It will only be a few months before you get to try all these wonderful presents on!

The Nursery

So Todd and I finally chose the furniture for our baby's room! We found the crib a while back at BRU, but I wasn't totally happy with the dresser and armoire that went with it. As most of you know, I'm a little particular, so I was looking for the perfect piece! I wanted a dresser with enough drawers, one that was practical and that can be used past age 4, a book shelf/hutch and a front-style changer. Well after searching high and low on the internet and actually going to five baby stores, we found it all!

The glider and ottoman are from BRU. It will be pretty much just like the picture; cherry wood with buckwheat fabric. The crib is also the one pictured; pretty much a dark cherry, but they call it espresso. And last but not least, by any means...the dresser/hutch/changer combo from Bellini! The style of the 6 drawer dresser is the one in white, but it will be in what they call mahogany. Ours will also have the hutch on it as pictured, but no mirror. The changer (as pictured on top of the mahogany dresser, will go where the mirror is. The changer attaches to the top of the dresser but can be removed when no longer needed. So....I got all the things I wanted and the best part is that it won't take up much space in our tiny 10 x 10' 8" room. It will however, take up a nice chunk of our savings account (lol!), but we think it's worth it! :)

Now I just have to finish cleaning out the room so we can fit all of this furniture in there! Lol! Wish me luck!

Countdown...17 days til the BIG U/S!!!

So nothing major has been going on since the last post except for the fact that the belly is growing by the minute! Ok, it's not that big, but it feels that way! I have a few more belly pix to post, including a night and morning pic that is hysterical, but I don't have them with me, so I'll post them hopefully tonight or tomorrow. I can't believe how much the belly swells throughout the day! It's literally like night and day! Lol (sorry, I couldn't resist)!

I am now 16wks and 2 days pg! The big, major ultrasound is in 17 days!!! Todd and I are super excited!!! We are pretty much convinced it is a boy because of Intelligender and fotrunebaby.com, but wouldn't it be funny if it was a girl now? I have already started my registry, and it's filled with lots of blue!!!

Actually Todd and I went to BRU (Babies 'R' US, for future reference) yesterday and I think we may have found the bedroom set we like. It's between one there and a set at good ole JCP, but the set at JCP doesn't have the dresser in the right color in stock, so I keep calling to check on it, but may just give up and go with the other set cuz I'm tired of waiting. The plan was to use my tax refund for the baby's furniture and that came, so now it's just sitting there burning a hole in my savings account. I started going thru all my stuff and clothes in there a while ago and just need to get some of those space saver bags to finish (which we may go get tonight) it up. We'll then have to rent a Uhaul to move and store the bedroom set that's in there now in mom and dad's basement, but for now it will sit in our garage so I can continue to clean out the room and feel like I'm making progress. :)

On our shopping trip,Todd and I bought a cute, cuddly and very warm looking winter cuddlesuit and the cutest brown little corduroy jacket (for a boy or girl)...I'll have to post some pix of those too. It was out first purchase for the baby, together.

Ok, so I was just yelled at by my brother because I haven't posted anything in a while...but there's really nothing new to post. Unless you want to hear about my bloating, back aches, lack of sleep and gas...not much to say yet. Lol!

On Easter, my Aunt Lorrie returned the cradle that I used as a baby that she borrowed for her 5 kids (the youngest is a teenager now I believe, ha!) so I can possibly use it for our baby! That was very cool! It's not in bad condition either! Have to buy a new mattress for it, but I expected that.

I have ordered something called Angel Sounds off of eBay and am hoping to receive it any day now. It is like a generic doppler I guess, similar to the Bebe Sounds they sell at Babies 'r' Us or Target, but you can supposedly use it as early as 10-12 weeks rather than waiting for the third trimester. It's coming from Hong Kong so the expected ship wait was 7-12 business days (today is day 8). I can't wait to receive it and search for my baby's heartbeat! I'm hoping to use this as kind of a bonding tool to get to know my baby a little better.

I have also ordered a Back 'n' Belly pillow that has received great reviews on Target and Babies 'r' Us' websites. I guess it's better than the original Snoogle (?) and the Boppy version. I'm really hoping that this will help me sleep better throughout the night, for a while at least. :)

Well I'll keep you posted and let you know when I recieve my new toys and how they work. Next appointment is in 11 1/2 days! We can't wait! I'll try to post some belly photos soon. :)

The Heartbeat!

So what an amazing day it has been already! Today Todd and I went for our second doctor's appointment and we were able to hear the heartbeat!!! It was sooo Awesome!! And yes, of course I cried. :) Well, I didn't bawl or anything, but was definitely teary eyed. Todd was amazed as well. I think we are both walking on cloud 9 today!

What's New?

Ok, so it's been a while, sorry, still getting used to this. In the meantime I've been checking out some cool pg sites and talking to other pg women which is really nice! It really helps talking to other women that are going thru the same things as you are. It's also nice because not everyone has the same symptoms and on the one website you kinda just post your feeling and ask questions and if anyone else feels the same way they send you a message.

I've also been doing some shopping...I bought a pair of brown flats, ordered black ones (they didn't have my size in the store), bought some non-maternity, "babydoll" type blouses (to get me thru this awkward stage), one more pair of stretchy pants from NY & Co (even tho I'm boycotting them) and a "tummy sleeve"! Oh! And another book...."The Grlfirend's Guide to Pregnancy".

I'm wearing the brown flats now and have already worn 4 of the 6 new items of clothing I've bought, not including the tummy sleeve. I may need to wear it later this week, but we'll see.

I had a dream last night that I had a bump and I was so excited! I actually had to check my tummy when I woke up! Ha! You see, yesterday my aunts came over to my mom's for Easter and I think they all came to me to check my bump (that I don't have yet) and were disappointed that there wasn't anything to see. So, I think that fueled my dream. It was so wierd because it was so hard and it actually had the texture of a basketball! Lol! Pretty funny, huh (kinda gross too)?

That's really all that's been going on... I did post another baby name poll that you can vote on if you'd like andwe have our next appt this Thursday! I'm sooooooo excited!!!!!! I'm hoping they'll do another u/s since the first one was done so early and we only got to see a blinking dot!

The First Appointment!

So after three tests, I took one more at week 5. I needed to see the word 'Pregnant' in order to believe it. So, I asked Todd to stop on his way home from work and pick up a digital test. I took the fourth test the next morning, on Saturday and again....surprise! It was positive! But this time it said Pregnant, it wasn't just a faint blue or pink line. Wow! I'm really pregnant!

So our first appointment was this past Monday. I chose a dr. who's office is right around the corner from our home so it's very convenient! He seemed nice as did the girls in the brand new, clean (very important :)) office. He just kept saying, "You're really early!", like he was surprised...I told them I was only six weeks. Did he think I was wrong? Ha!

So here's out first baby pic...can you see him/her? It's the little dot off to the far right inside the black bean looking shape. :) We didn't get to hear the heartbeat, but we saw it. The dr. pointed out how the dot seemed to be blinking..."that's the heartbeat" he said. Wow! I could almost cry just thinking about it again.

Our next appointment is March 27th, but check back, I have a feeling there may be a few posts between now and then (I need to complain to someone!).

I took my first test on Friday am, the second Saturday am and a third on Sunday...all positive! We still don't believe it but my husband and are are pretty excited! You see, I'm 33 yrs old and a bit of a worrier and was sure that either I wouldn't be able to conceive (like all women) or that it would take us a while to get pg...boy was I wrong! My new nickname for my hubby is "One Shot"! Ha!

We talked about starting to try in August, but I wanted to go off the pill now, for a few reasons. One being that I've been on it a while and the other cuz of my thyroid. My period was getting lighter and lighter (I know, who would complain, right?) and even tho I'm not a dr. this made me think something was wrong. So I went off in Dec. and I got my first normal period in years in Jan. No worries, everything is just fine and in working order. Wow! I totally forgot how awful they are (TG I won't have one for a while now!)! Along with the regular flow came the horrible cramps! My whole weekend was shot! While rolling around in bed all the wonderful memories of when I was not on the pill came flooding back.

Anyways...so Todd and I thought it would be fun to try. We figured it would prob take us at least a few months and who gets pregnant on the first try...right? WRONG and WRONG again!

I started feeling really hungry like a week or so later and then my belly started making all kinds of weird noises and was getting really gassy! I felt like I would explode if someone poked me with a pin! After 3 weeks I took a test and it came up negative. Ok, so I was just really hungry and gassy, right? WRONG again! I waited exactly one week and took another one before work...this was the first of four.
